LEGENDARY ADVENTURES > LEGENDARY APPAREL > LEGENDARY COFFEE > ROGUE SNOWBOARDS
In the 80’s I grew up in Queensland smack-bang in the centre of some the best surf with a back drop of beautiful locations.
I loved the outdoors surfing, swimming, hiking and I began capturing the landscapes of my “backyard” as a teenager with my camera. I travelled Australia learning my trade. I began a commercial career in photography at 18.
I dreamt of buying a ute or van and heading to the most secluded surf spots in Australia funding the adventure by using my commercial landscape photographic experience to create a true endless summer.
By the time I was in my early 30’s I was a father of 3 girls and owned arguably Australia’s largest commercial photographic studio and laboratory, Professionally I was successful however, I was losing my identity. My dream of disappearing into the wild never waned. I became disillusioned with the photographic industry with the release of cameras that had Auto Focus, Auto shutter speed, Auto this, Auto that, basically.... Auto Photographer. The technical side of the photography vanished and anyone that had $1000 or less called themselves a professional photographer. I sold everything, changed industries and worked even harder, longer hours. Starting from scratch professionally.
I was still caught in a world of security and comfort with no risks in life, living my Plan B.
This path however allowed my passion for imaging to emerge again. I started designing websites, apps and snowboards.
2014 I turned 41, I found the love of my life, Penny and a step son, by 47 my 3 girls had become adults and the urge to finally remove plan B from my life and chase plan A, became my priority. The adventure I dreamt of years ago is my PLAN A and the documentary by the same name is based on that Legendary Adventure and “Red Yowie”!
The documentary will showcase the natural beauty of Australia through a photographers eye. Teaching the true skills and techniques of landscape photography and visiting my Secret and favourite locations for photography and camping. The development of the Red Yowie App will be documented along with tips and hacks for camping and four wheel driving.
Penny and I will delve into the environmental impact of climate change, whilst enjoying the great country of ours. This Documentary will be sustainably produced, off-grid, producing our own power to run the entire production. In this spirit we will plant 1 tree for everyday of production.
Unlike nearly all other documentary productions the cast and crew will travel light, accomodation will be 30 second tents and swags. This is what makes this production unique and will immerse the team into the Australian camping and adventure experience with no terrain restrictions, showcasing the shear beauty of this great southern land. This approach will reduce our environmental impact.
All production equipment will be valued at less than $1000 with 25% of all filming captured on smart phones. This concept is to show the viewers, they can capture true professional quality images with equipment they have at home.
We will have leaders in their fields share their knowledge and experience around a campfire with a beverage in hand.
This will be Bucket List with a "KICK", documented by spectacular imagery.
We are now looking for supporters to make this documentary a reality.
